A jar for memories

For day one of “Improving our world in 31 days” a simple yet meaningful project.  A jar for memories.  I have wanted to do this for a few years, but haven’t.  So now’s the time.  Plus I found this perfect apothecry jar at the flea market this fall for (get ready to hate me) a dollar.  ONE dollar!  Silly, I was so excited, but I was.

IMG_5685The idea for a 2013 memory jar is simple.  Through out the year, you place little notes of things you have done, funny things that were said, invitations, ticket stubs, any memory, goes into the jar.  Then on New Year’s eve 2013, you read and relive, all the things that you did that year. (ahh!)

To start off our jar, I added our menu for New Years Eve, Hubby and I have always written down what we had for dinner, a silly tradition but it’s ours.  This year we had potato & sauerkraut pancakes and a Russian bread named Pagach, that we dipped in honey to represent the sweetness of life and into garlic to represent the bitterness.  As we did so we chatted about what those things were.  Kiddo didn’t really get it, but she will one day.

How is this going to improve my little world, a few ways.  I have wanted to do this for many years, so it’s finally off my to do list (improvement) and it will be fun to remember all the things we did over the year (improving our family).  Will you create a memory jar for 2013?
